Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Hefetz and Rotem Levy.

Sharon and Rotem, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As immigrants to the States who have previously served in the military, we always felt the value in protecting individuals and families. In the pursuit of the American dream, we became entrepreneurs with many different ideas and plans. During this time, we also became parents, and security and safety became even more of a priority. It all came together when we crossed our values with hard work and began researching the options available in the security industry. With over 60 years of combined experience in the security industry, we knew we could be a disruption in this space. We wanted to change the client interface by combining the smart home features with an efficient and easy-to-use client interface. This unique approach brought together all of the smart home features in one app while using the highest grade security methods.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The biggest challenge we’ve had is finding the best way to integrate security systems to the home automation world. We wanted to go above and beyond in providing our clients with the most amazing platform, while keeping our services affordable to everyone. Previously, smart home security has only been available to higher income households, but we always felt this service was something everyone deserved.

Building the company from the ground up and spreading the word was challenging. We wanted to have our customers understand what differentiated us from the services that were available and how our system would help them ‘live smart.’

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Smart Shield Systems story. Tell us more about the business.
Smart Shield Systems offers the best security in smart home and lifestyle technology and customer service to the Southern California region. Our mission is simple: to make security accessible from anywhere and affordable to all, and thereby create safer communities. Smart Shield Systems specializes in securing families and businesses and giving them the huge benefit of a smart home. Our packages are customizable to fit the needs of security, smart home, and surveillance. In the security package we monitor five different things: theft, life alert, carbon monoxide, smoke/fire, and flooding. Our customers receive immediate response from the police and fire departments should any of their systems trigger an alarm. With our smart home package, customers can control their lights, shades, thermostats, locks, garage doors, and more, directly from their phone through our Alarm.com app. With our surveillance package, we offer doorbell cameras and motion-activated indoor and outdoor cameras. We are constantly innovating and are expanding our product line. In summer 2018 we plan to include features connecting our customers to their cars and pets.

We are a local San Diego company providing immediate customer service to our clients in all of Southern California. What sets us apart is our personal touch. Our alarm specialists offer private consultations in order to customize our systems to fit our clients’ needs. From the consultation to the installation and beyond, customer satisfaction is our top priority. We know the needs of the individual communities and strive to go the extra mile for those seeking a Smart Shield System.

We are proud our systems because we help our customers save money on their bills, reduce their electricity usage, receive discounts on their homeowners insurance, and have an overall positive experience as they ‘live smart.’

Proudest Moment

In December of 2017, Smart Shield’s Security System saved a mother and her two children in North Park, San Diego. After the family ate dinner, a robber, who had been watching them throughout the day burst into the house as the mother was taking her two children upstairs. She had armed the system before heading to bed and as soon as she heard the break in, she ran out of the house. Smart Shield Security immediately contacted the family through the two-way voice system and dispatched police.

Although these situations are rare and unfortunate, it is very important to be prepared and have the right tools to respond.

It is an amazing feeling for us to know that Smart Shield Stems is literally at the forefront of family and business’ safety.
