Where are you located and where do you provide service?
We are located in San Diego, California, and we provide service throughout the state of California.
Do I really need the app and how do I get it?
You need the app to access your system’s controls from anywhere in the world using your mobile device. We will provide you with a link to enable you to download the app from Apple or Android.
Can I upgrade my system during installation?
Absolutely. Although you’ve signed a contract with a certain set of features, you can add more services and extras on-site with the assistance of our professional technician. After the installation, if you would like to further upgrade your systems, we can provide an assessment and advise you on suitable upgrades.
Will I get a discount on my home insurance?
Most likely. When you install an alarm system, your insurance company may offer you a discount up to 20%. If your insurance company would like you to provide evidence that you have had an alarm system fitted, please contact us and we will provide you with the necessary documents.
Do I need to register my new alarm system?
It depends on where you are – please visit your local municipal website for more information.
What if I move to a new address?
As long as you are moving to an area that we service, we will help you relocate your system. For a small fee, we will move, transport, and reinstall your system at your new address. Please let us know 30 days in advance that you are moving.
Do I get a discount for referrals?
If a referral you send us signs a contract with Smart Shield Systems, we will give you 2 free months of monitoring service. Referrals are cumulative, and so you receive 2 months of free monitoring for each referral.
What happens if a burglar tries to enter my property and you can’t contact me?
There is no need to worry if you are unavailable. We provide monitoring 24 hours a day. In the event of an issue, we will inform the police, fire department, or other relevant authority. We will also notify you via text and through the phone contacts you have provided. If you are unavailable, or for any other reason we cannot reach you, we will leave a message, call your other emergency contacts, and follow up with you.
