Smart Shield Systems
PowerG 2-Way Wireless Magnetic Contact
The PowerG PGx945 series is a professional wireless door/window contact with a built-in reed switch and a programmable hard-wired auxiliary input—perfect when a magnet isn’t practical or you want to bring an existing wired contact into your wireless system. It communicates using PowerG (AES-128, frequency-hopping), includes case & back (wall) tamper, and provides on-device link-quality LEDs to speed up installs. Typical battery life is up to 8 years.

Why Choose This with Smart Shield Systems
- Flexible installs: we’ll use the aux input (NO/NC/EOL) when a magnet gap won’t meet spec or to convert a wired contact—cleanly enrolled and labeled.
- Signal verified on the spot: we use the device’s Placement Test and LED strength indicator to ensure GOOD/STRONG PowerG signal before we leave.
- Code-aware mounting: we set the back tamper, use screws where required, and align the magnet within the 6 mm (0.24″) gap limit for reliable detection.
Key Features
- Reed switch + hard-wired input (program as NO / NC / Single EOL 47 kΩ). The reed and aux input behave as separate transmitters for clean zoneing.
- PowerG wireless with AES-128, frequency-hopping, adaptive power, and supervision (4-minute heartbeat).
- On-device link-quality LEDs and enroll button for quick commissioning.
- Case & back tamper, low-battery reporting.
- Long battery life (typical 8 years, CR123A).
- Color options: PG9945 (white), PG9945BR (brown).
Product Specifications (At-a-Glance)
- Models / Bands: PG9945 (FCC/IC/UL/ULC 912–919 MHz), PG8945 (868 MHz), PG4945 (433 MHz).
- Magnet gap: ≤ 6 mm (0.24″) at the marked reed-switch side.
- Battery: 3 V CR123A lithium; up to 8 years typical.
- Supervision: status signaling every ~4 minutes; automatic low-battery transmission.
- Dimensions / Weight: 81 × 34 × 25 mm (3-3/16″ × 1-1/4″ × 1″); ~53 g.
- Aux input: NO / NC / EOL (47 kΩ); max cable length 10 m (22 AWG).
- Tamper: case & back tamper (back tamper mandatory for UL/ULC fire/commercial burglary).
Compatibility Notes
- Works with PowerG-capable panels (e.g., Qolsys IQ Panel 4 / IQ Pro, DSC PowerSeries Neo, etc.).
- Aux input can be enrolled as a separate zone for clean system logic.
- For UL/ULC Residential Fire applications, the aux input may be used with listed mechanical heat detectors mounted within 3 ft, with specific programming (zone type, supervision, EOL). We handle these settings when required.
Popular Use Cases
- Standard doors & windows: low-profile perimeter protection with verified signal strength.
- Hard spots / metal frames: use the aux input to land a wired recessed contact while keeping wireless on the panel side.
- Heat-detector tie-in (UL/ULC scenarios): approved wiring/programming for Residential Fire where appropriate.
Frequently Asked Questions
6 mm (0.24″) at the marked side of the transmitter. We align the magnet mark to the case mark during install.
Yes—the aux input supports NO, NC, or Single-EOL (47 kΩ) and can be enrolled as its own zone.
Real-world life is up to ~8 years on a CR123A with typical use; the sensor reports low-battery automatically.
Yes. The base has a break-away wall segment for back tamper, which is required in certain UL/ULC installs.
We use the device’s Placement Test mode—the LED blinks to show POOR/GOOD/STRONG so we can reposition if needed. (For UL/ULC, STRONG is required.)
